For The Collectors...

B-Boy Easy Roc from the Westcoast is back at it again with a limited supply of some of that true skool flavor by resurrecting some of his classic medallion illustrations. These were originally made in the early 90's and made in small numbers. These were real big with the heads as well as Zulus. I think he even made RSC ones as well as Krylon logo's. He even made a shirt out of one of or two if i could remember correctly.

New Shit... (quick download)

Total Eclipse is back it again with yet another Mixtape.. This one is called "The J Tape", featuring tracks, mash ups, and remixes from famous artists sporting the J name (J. Dilla, Jay-Z, Jay Electronica). Influenced by the works of the legendary J. Dilla (RIP), Total Eclipse decided to mix Dilla's incredible production with the vocal stylings of Jay-Z, one of the greatest MCs of all time, and Jay Electronica, one of the most exciting artists to arrive on the Hip-Hop scene in a number of years.

Friday Hype... (New Shit / Quick Download)

Well it's finally FRIDAY and what better way to start it off with Gilles Peterson final Retrospective Show (#4) on the Hip Hop and Soul he’s supported on his BBC Radio 1 show over the years..

In this show he drops session tracks from Sa Ra Creative Partners, Amp Fiddla and Kindred featuring Roy Ayers, as well as snippets of interviews with Saul Williams, The Roots, and Dwele.

Plus Gilles goes in on the back-catalogue, dropping over 50 tracks in 2 hours, touching on some chill out with Aaliyah, Jill Scott, Badu and D’Angelo, as well as some greasy with Raekwon, Dr Octagon and Dabrye.

*Basically this is a real nice show for a Friday afternoon at work or good play on the way home from your weekend Hip-Hop Road trip. G.P. does go in for 2 hours straight with a nice selection and variety of grown folks Hip-Hop and Soul. But still kept it balanced for the heads with some quality control, drops, and good old fashion soul power.

New Shit... (quick download)

“Motown legend Duke Fakir – the only surviving member of The Four Tops, whose hits include Reach Out I’ll Be There, It’s the Same Old Song and I Can’t Help Myself ( Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) – hangs out with Craig today.

Duke will be picking some of his favorite tunes and looking back at a career which started way back in 1956, has seen countless hit singles, awards a plenty, and seen him work with a who’s who of soul music.

Craig also continues his countdown of his favorite songs of all time in The Funky 52, another celeb reveals what makes them all soulful in Secret Soul Sister/Brother, and there is another musical lesson in Hammond Time.

*This by far is my favorite funk show.. Nothing but FUNK and Soul for over 3 hours straight, tons of jewels, slept on classics, unreleased material, and tons of jokes and personality.. Craig is a beast and what better way to get the sunshine back out by listening to this dope show.

ENJOY,
-P
